Franz Fiedler, Death and the maiden

Franz Fiedler (17 February 1885 in Prostějov, Austria-Hungary – 5 February 1956 in Dresden, GDR) was a photographer. A series of erotic photos with a skeleton seem to mock the medieval classic motif of Death and the maiden

Creepy anti-Syphilis posters

Anti-Prostitution Poster, WWII
Venereal diseases always used as a pragmatic proof in order to enstablish an anti-hedonic sexual morality to Youth and controlled monogamic relations. But the majority of official warnings had to do with protection of males, especially soldiers, so nearly all related posters and propaganda refered to "creepy" and insidious female prostitutes who are going to spread dissease and death to those men who let themselves surrender to their lust. No care about women erotic needs, the "good" girls were virgins till their marriage under the strict protection of familly and fathers and brothers, and the others "dirty" girls were left to their fates. Even Salvador Dali was ordered to draw a poster with such a sexist theme, but I dare say that it is very artistic. I present some of the most creepy sexist posters and one that is so rediculously funny and representative of the "insidious and evil woman"

František Drtikol

František Drtikol (1883 – 1961) was a Czech photographer of international renown. He is especially known for his characteristically epic photographs, often nudes and portraits. Drtikol made many portraits of very important people and nudes which show development from pictorialism and symbolism to modern composite pictures of the nude body with geometric decorations and thrown shadows, where it is possible to find a number of parallels with the avant-garde works of the period. These are reminiscent of Cubism, and at the same time his nudes suggest the kind of movement that was characteristic of the futurism aesthetic.

I present some of his more dark and macabre photos with erotic attitude, salome, death and the maiden (erotic playful attitude with death in contrast with the warning message of the classic theme) and the crucified woman

Alexander Ver Huell (1822-1897)

Alexander Ver Huell (1822-1897) was a Dutch illustrator. When he grew older he experienced a change in his personality in which he became more paranoid and socially alienated and his sketches veered away from the whimsical to concentrate on depicting evil and devils.
